The Thursday chef-in dinner is
the trip's most important booking.

A multi-course Sicilian dinner cooked at the villa, with everyone seated, is what makes Thursday work. Here's how to book it well — plus the morning cooking-class options that let everyone (including Matt) participate at their own pace.

SECTION01

Cesarine — Italian home-cook network.

Verified active in Syracuse area in 2025/2026. Most senior-friendly option: hosts cook in their own homes with seated prep stations.

URL TIP
Book at the EU domain: takeachef.com/en-it/private-chef/sicilynot en-us, which surfaces Syracuse, NY by default.
SECTION04

Local Syracuse-area chefs (verified).

Always also ask the villa host — they likely have a contact and may have a relationship that simplifies booking. The right person to confirm dietary needs (Matt's Parkinson's-related considerations) and bring the right wines.

SECTION05

What classes typically cover.

Hand-rolled pasta (busiate, garganelli, ravioli) · caponata · swordfish with orange salad · pasta alla Norma · arancini · cannoli · cassata (less common, findable) · almond pesto / pesto trapanese · Ortigia market tour as a preface.

SECTION06

For multi-generational groups.

Prioritize a class with seated prep stations and a short market walk (Teresa's home setup or Maria Rita's class work better than an extended walking-cooking class). Confirm with the host that Matt can stay seated for the bulk of the prep — most hosts will adjust the format readily.

For the chef-in dinner, the format is naturally seated for guests — the chef does the cooking. Matt and Paula get to enjoy the meal without restaurant logistics.
