SECTION02

The day, hour by hour.

  1. 9:00 AM
Drive to Parco Archeologico della Neapolis (~30 min)

Parco opens at 8:30 AM. Going early matters — the stones radiate heat by 11 and there's almost no shade. Tickets €13 pp; consider buying online to skip the queue.

  2. 9:45 AM
Greek Theater · Latomia del Paradiso · Orecchio di Dionisio · Roman Amphitheater

The Greek Theater dates to the 5th century BC and is still active in summer. Latomia del Paradiso is the limestone quarry where the Orecchio di Dionisio cave has wild acoustics — clap inside it.

Mostly flat ground but uneven in places. Pace gently. Bring water and hats.

  3. 12:00 PM
Drive to Ortigia (~10 min) · Mercato di Ortigia

Mon–Sat ~7:30 AM–2 PM. Quick visit for the market experience: almond paste, cured meats, ricotta, tomatoes. Pick up a few specialty items to bring back to the villa for tomorrow's lunch.

  4. 1:00 PM
Lunch in Ortigia · Trattoria del Forestiero

Casual local spot. Pasta and primi. Cool room out of the midday sun.

  5. 2:30 PM
Two paths — pick your energy

Quiet path: Drive back to the villa for siesta + pool. Re-emerge for dinner. Recommended if anyone's feeling the heat.

Active path: Stay in Ortigia. Walk to Castello Maniace at the tip of the island. Browse Via Cavour shops. Gelato. Reconvene with the rest of the group for dinner.

  6. 8:00 PM
    Dinner in Ortigia (pre-booked)

Cortile Spirito Santo (Michelin) or Apollonion. Both walkable from anywhere on the island.

  7. 10:30 PM
    Drive home (~25 min)

Direct shot back to the villa.

Heads-up for the day.

SUN
Neapolis has almost no shade. Hats, water, sunscreen mandatory. Get there at 9 — by 11 it's brutal.

TICKETS
Buy Neapolis tickets online the night before to skip the morning queue. €13 pp. CoopCulture usually has them.
